As you all know, Instagram changed their algorithm, once again. Which means influencers, bloggers, and celebrities are left scrambling, trying to figure out the next best way to succeed and flourish on IG. Between all the recent changes, which are still unknown to all of us, some have figured out a few ways to hack it.
Instagram use to be simple and straight forward. You would see everyone’s posts on your feed, chronological. Now, what you see on your feed directly correlates with what you’re looking at the most and who you interact with the most. This can be good or bad. Good because you get to see your friends and the people you care about the most, but bad because your feed also gets flooded with celebrity posts (even from 4-5 days ago) and company sales and/or promotions.
I now see posts for clothing companies or businesses, where they post about a sale or pop-up shop (which is time sensitive), but I don’t see the post until days later. By then, the post is completely irrelevant and pointless, leaving businesses and costumers upset and confused. Even those posts that people PAY to promote are getting lost in the chaos of the new algorithm.
As some of you may know, the only way to continue to see my posts and stories, are to like and comment on some of them. Then my profile will show up as a “favorite” and you will continue to see more posts from me. If you’re someone who just scrolls through your feed without liking/commenting (which is totally fine), then you may stop certain people’s stuff in your feed eventually.
Another way is to simply turn on the notifications for someone’s profile. You can do this by going to their profile page. In the top right corner there is an option to turn on/off the notifications for each individual. This will ensure you continue to see content from that user.
IG is also now tracking your likes and comments, especially within the first 60 minutes, to determine who should all see your content. If you get a lot of likes and comments right away, it will open the post up to everyone else following you, and even to the rest of IG. If you post does not get a lot interaction, it’s only shown to 10% of your followers. TEN PERCENT!! Can you believe that?
Most people I talk to are disappointed and discouraged from this IG change, myself included. I’ve already found it extremely difficult to build a following and community on IG, and this only makes it that much more difficult. Which is why I’m writing this post…
I need YOUR help. If you read something you like on my IG or blog, please like and/or comment. The more interaction I get, the more people will have a chance to see. I hate feeling like I’m begging for likes, but IG has left us no choice, and now we have to fight for it. I love the supportive community we’ve built through my IG and blog, and I hope to continue it as long as possible, but this can only happen if it’s successful and thriving.
I love getting to know all of you and your journeys as new moms, and I love the support and love shown by everyone through out each and every post. Help me grow our little community by liking, commenting, and sharing my posts and photos. And always feel free to message me, DM me on IG, send me a Snapchat or email me with any questions, comments, or products/posts you want to know more about! I love hearing from you!
